GCP Engineer

Accenture Federal Services•Washington, DC
•$83,600 - $196,000

About The Position

Accenture Federal Services is seeking a Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Engineer to build reusable infrastructure, automation, and engineering foundations that product teams rely on. The role supports federal agency modernization by building, deploying, automating, and maintaining secure and efficient GCP cloud environments. The engineer will help make environments secure, repeatable, observable, reliable, and easier for developers to use. With increasing experience, the engineer may mentor others, shape reliability strategy, and influence cloud architecture and platform standards across teams or programs. The position involves designing, building, automating, and operating cloud infrastructure and platform capabilities across GCP environments; creating and maintaining infrastructure as code; improving delivery pipelines and workflows; and operating containerized workloads. It also includes implementing security, observability, resilience, backup and recovery practices, automating operational work, troubleshooting incidents, and collaborating with engineering, architecture, security, delivery, and client stakeholders. AFS-approved AI-assisted engineering tools and workflows are used to accelerate work, with outputs validated by the engineer. The role requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to work with federal clients while complying with applicable company, client, security, and program requirements. Work may be hybrid, remote, or at a client site as program needs require. The listed base pay range for specified states and the District of Columbia is $83,600–$196,000 USD. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis with no fixed deadline.

  • Experience with infrastructure as code such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, or a comparable technology.
  • Experience with CI/CD, Git-based workflows, scripting and automation, and modern software delivery practices.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, container platforms, or comparable workload orchestration technologies.
  • Understanding of cloud networking, identity and access, observability, security, reliability, and operational troubleshooting.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Ability to work with federal clients and comply with applicable AFS, client, security, and program requirements.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid, remote, or client-site environment as program needs require.
  • Applicants for employment in the U.S. must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Cloud certifications from Google Cloud or comparable providers.
  • Experience with Helm, Argo CD, GitOps, service mesh, policy as code, secrets management, or platform engineering products.
  • Experience with SRE practices, SLIs/SLOs, incident management, capacity planning, FinOps, resilience engineering, or disaster recovery.
  • Experience with federal cloud security, zero trust, FedRAMP-oriented environments, or regulated systems.
  • Ability to collaborate with development and security teams and take increasing ownership of platform components or cloud workstreams.
  • Previous federal consulting, government, or mission-oriented delivery experience.
  • For candidates with deeper experience, demonstrated ability to lead complex platform initiatives, define standards, mentor others, and influence architecture and reliability decisions across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, automate, and operate cloud infrastructure and platform capabilities across GCP environments.
  • Create and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, or comparable technologies.
  • Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, developer workflows, deployment automation, environment provisioning, and release controls.
