About The Position

The TELUS AI Office, part of the TELUS CIO office, is responsible for all Data and AI related work. Telus is charting a new course in healthcare by connecting patients and providers through its award-winning Collaborative Health Record (CHR), an end-to-end, secure, cloud-based digital platform. The Support and Implementation team offers high exposure to diverse, challenging, and rewarding opportunities while working on leading-edge technologies. This team is responsible for the development, operational readiness, and support of TELUS Health Electronic Medical Records platforms. As a new member of the Data Engineering team, you will utilize DevOps principles to evaluate current and new solutions, discover, evaluate, and provide Data engineering support to EMR platforms. Your contributions will directly impact the enhancement of infrastructure and data initiatives to provide real-time health alerts for frontline and support teams, aiming to quickly identify problems, reduce mean time to repair, and provide after-action reports to enhance understanding of service health status.

Requirements

  • Experience with DB technologies like Oracle, MySQL, MSSQL, MongoDB
  • Streaming Architectures: Strong expertise in Apache Flink, and Apache Kafka for real-time data processing.
  • Data Processing and management: Solid foundation in any single node Python framework.
  • PySpark
  • Experience in SQL, Stored Procedures, Data Modelling
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (any one of GCP and/or AWS with preference to GCP)
  • Some experience with Terraform coding
  • Modern Big-Data storage technologies (Iceberg - Preferred, Hudi, Delta)
  • Good experience with GCP services, specifically DB related, like BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Dataflow, and Dataproc
  • Expertise with Data Analytics
  • Strong sense of business ownership and customer focus
  • Advanced oral and written English language and communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and become an expert in new technologies
  • Commended for being a fast learner and resourceful
  • Known for effective time management and ability to work independently and with a team
  • Research, analytical and problem solving skills

  • Experience in query optimization, resource allocation and management, and data lake performance (Presto, SQL)

  • Background and practical experience in statistics and/or computational mathematics (Bayesian and Frequentist approaches, NumPy, PyMC3, etc.)
  • Some experience with AWS services, specifically DB related, like DMS, Glue, Athena, Textract
  • Linux RHEL and CentOS scripting.
