About The Position

This is a 1099 contract engagement for the State of Michigan, staffed through Stafford Gray. The client is seeking a cloud engineer with expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) who can also support integration with an existing Teradata data warehouse environment. The role involves designing, deploying, and managing GCP infrastructure, supporting data movement between GCP and Teradata, building infrastructure as code, monitoring cloud resources, and troubleshooting issues. Collaboration with data engineering and platform teams on modernization efforts is also a key part of the role.

Requirements

• Several years of hands on GCP experience
• Direct Teradata experience, ETL or data warehouse integration
• IaC and CI/CD tooling experience
• Strong Python or Bash scripting

Nice To Haves

• GCP certification (Associate Cloud Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect)
• State or local government client experience
• Experience migrating off Teradata to a cloud native warehouse (e.g. BigQuery)

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage GCP infrastructure (Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, IAM, networking)
• Support integration and data movement between GCP and Teradata systems
• Build and maintain infrastructure as code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines
• Monitor cloud performance, cost, and security compliance
• Troubleshoot infrastructure and data pipeline issues
• Collaborate with data engineering and platform teams on modernization work
