About The Position

This internship provides an opportunity for interns to gain insight into our Group Benefit Solutions department and New York Life’s business values and experience a corporate environment, while collaborating on project work across the organization, and participate in professional development activities to further their skills. The internship will start as early as May 2026. This is a part-time internship that requires a minimum of 15-20 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours during the summer. Location: Our Pittsburgh office is in the Strip District with free parking! Summer housing will not be provided. Interns are able to work remotely or hybrid in office on Wednesdays.

Requirements

Customer service mindset with the ability to work well with people in a team-oriented workplace setting.
Able to work 40 hours per week during the summer and minimum of 15 hours per week is required during the academic year.
Effective team player with collaborative skills.
Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
Excellent problem-solving capabilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as: Word, Excel, Outlook.

Nice To Haves

College undergraduate actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree with an expected graduation date of 2027 or 2028.
Preferred background in customer service, including proficiency in phone communication.
Knowledge of life insurance industry preferred.
Business majors a plus.

Responsibilities

Support specialists in the day to day claim investigation process within the Life Insurance department.
Load claims.
Send general correspondences as needed.
Conduct phone calls.
Work on various other claims related projects.
