Requirements

  • Proven experience as a service technician or installer specializing in electrical components such as access controls, gate operators, sensors, or low voltage.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience related to low voltage wiring, cabling, NEC standards, and power tools usage.
  • Familiarity with computer networking concepts, remote access software, telecommunication wiring, and surveillance system integration.
  • Ability to read schematics accurately and interpret technical diagrams for system design or troubleshooting purposes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in the field while adhering to safety standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of fire alarm systems, locksmithing principles, IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), and security protocols is highly desirable.
  • Construction experience or familiarity with building codes can be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and service access control systems, including card readers, gate operators/controllers, and remote access software.
  • Maintain and repair gate operators, sensors, access control equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues related to low voltage systems, cabling, power supplies, and system design components using schematics and technical manuals.
  • Conduct field service visits to diagnose system faults, perform preventative maintenance, and upgrade existing security infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their security needs; provide system design recommendations and assist with access controls sales when appropriate.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely to install or repair equipment in construction or existing facilities. Must know how to use multimeter.
  • Document all service activities thoroughly through detailed reports and logs; communicate effectively with team members and clients.
