About The Position

The Gate Inspector is responsible for inspecting intermodal units arriving and departing the facility. This includes inspecting unit numbers and each trailer and container for damage, as well as inputting necessary paperwork as required by customers. The role requires performing hands-on inspections on chassis and containers, ensuring security seals are intact, and accurately documenting any damage. A quality environment is maintained through safe and accident-free performance inspections. Inspectors are required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), such as a safety vest and steel toe boots. Additional duties may include assisting with administrative work in the office, assisting with yard work, and operating a forklift for stacking chassis.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on inspections on chassis and containers entering or leaving the yard while notating condition of units
• Ensuring that all security seals are intact on all loaded units and empty units are indeed emptied
• Clearly outlines and communicates all damage incurred on appropriate forms and/or computer systems with a direct supervisor
• Maintains a quality environment where performance inspections are handled accurately, safely, and accident & injury-free
• Assisting with Admin Work in the office when needed
• Assisting with work on the yard as needed
• All other duties as assigned when Gate is not busy
• Operate a forklift on the facility stacking chassis
