About The Position

The Gate Clerk is responsible for inspecting intermodal units arriving and departing the facility. This includes inspecting unit numbers and each trailer and container for damage, as well as inputting necessary paperwork as required by customers. The role requires the ability to work both inside and outside in various elements and involves assisting with administrative tasks in the office and yard work when needed. A forklift operation is also required for stacking chassis.

Requirements

• Must pass MVR check and have a valid driver's license
• Attention to detail

Nice To Haves

• Inspectors are required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), such as a safety vest and steel toe boots.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on inspections on chassis and containers entering or leaving the yard while notating condition of units.
• Ensure that all security seals are intact on all loaded units and empty units are indeed emptied.
• Clearly outline and communicate all damage incurred on appropriate forms and/or computer systems with a direct supervisor.
• Maintain a quality environment where performance inspections are handled accurately, safely, and accident & injury-free.
• Assist with Admin Work in the office when needed.
• Assist with work on the yard as needed.
• Operate a forklift on the facility stacking chassis.
• Perform other duties as assigned when the Gate is not busy.
