About The Position

A Gate Attendant/Scale Operator monitors and records waste volumes entering a post-collection site and collects appropriate usage fees from customers. The role involves evaluating incoming waste, documenting loads with truck scales and computer systems, and maintaining accurate transactions and records. The employee also provides information to callers, keeps the work area clean, and performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Experience in a previous position requiring cash handling and balancing cash and/or receipts.
Experience with computers and various software programs.

Responsibilities

Determine the content of material entering the facility to bill the customer appropriately.
Accept or reject waste loads based on their contents and suggest alternatives based on special-waste requirements, waste type, or local-market training.
Receive customer payments and provide receipts.
Balance daily receipts, maintain accurate records and billing, and deposit receipts in the safe depository.
Document incoming waste using truck scales and computer systems, and track total waste volumes entering the facility.
Notify operations about special waste or other special incoming loads; direct or dispatch as necessary; process required paperwork and perform other duties needed to handle special loads.
Answer the telephone and provide general information to callers.
Maintain the cleanliness of the work area.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
