About The Position

The School of Natural Resources and the Environment is seeking a Temporary Gastropod Field Technician for a summer project focused on habitat management and gastropods in Logan County, WV. The technician will support a graduate student by setting up monitoring plots, collecting data on snail abundance, identifying snail species, and assisting with data entry and equipment maintenance. This is a hybrid role with an assignment length of 4.5 months, requiring 37.5 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or coursework in wildlife biology, ecology, or related field
  • 0-6 months of experience
  • Ability to work both independently and part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work in harsh weather conditions and in difficult terrain
  • Basic knowledge of data entry in Excel
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic gastropod species identification or experience using a dichotomous key
