The Department of Pathology at the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine is seeking a full-time faculty member with expertise in gastrointestinal, hepatic, and pancreaticobiliary (GI/liver) surgical pathology. This position is at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will join a team of eight academic GI/liver surgical pathologists at the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH), a 925-bed facility in metro Denver. A GI/liver pathology fellowship or extensive relevant experience is required. The Department provides anatomic pathology services to UCH and affiliated clinics, utilizing a subspecialty sign-out model. The GI/liver service handles approximately 22,000 cases annually, including advanced endoscopic interventions, complex oncologic resections, and transplantations. While the primary focus is GI/liver surgical pathology, secondary clinical interests in other areas of anatomic pathology will be accommodated. Faculty are expected to engage in scholarship through collaborative scientific investigations or their own research programs. Teaching responsibilities include the Combined Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology Residency Program, 11 pathology fellowship programs (including a GI/Liver Pathology Fellowship), affiliated clinical residency and fellowship programs, the medical school, and other graduate health programs. The role involves working within a multidisciplinary team, requiring strong communication and professionalism skills. The position includes regularly scheduled clinical and GI/liver subspecialty intraoperative frozen section work, as well as minor general anatomic pathology on-call responsibilities.
