About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for a Gastroenterology position. The assignment is for long-term permanent search coverage. The practice setting involves 24-hour call with daily rounding starting at 8:00 AM, followed by 4-6 outpatient endoscopy procedures. Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) handle first call on weekdays from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, while the provider works solo nights and weekends. The average number of admissions while on call is 8-10. The schedule requires an average of 14 shifts per month, with immediate coverage needs. The patient population is adult. The EMR system used is EPIC. Credentialing takes approximately 60 days.

Requirements

  • Active Pennsylvania licensure
  • Board certification
  • AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Minimum 1-year Gastroenterology experience or equivalent
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school
  • Residency training program in internal medicine accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA)
  • Board certification in by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the AOA
  • Active and unrestricted medical license in
  • At least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive medical care to patients across a variety of clinical settings, including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic conditions
  • Conduct thorough patient histories, physical examinations, and clinical assessments
  • Order, interpret, and review diagnostic testing including laboratory work, imaging, and other studies as appropriate
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment and care plans based on patient needs and evidence-based practices
  • Prescribe medications, treatments, and therapeutic interventions within scope of practice
  • Manage ongoing patient care, including follow-up evaluations and coordination of treatment plans
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity and quality of care
  • Document patient encounters, treatment plans, and clinical findings accurately and in compliance with facility standards
  • Respond to patient concerns and provide education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive care
  • Maintain compliance with facility policies, credentialing requirements, and applicable regulatory standards
  • Adapt quickly to new clinical environments, workflows, and electronic medical record systems
  • Stay current on medical advancements, clinical guidelines, and best practices through continuing medical education and professional development
