About The Position

This position is for a Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (NP/PA) to provide support in a clinic setting. The role involves both inpatient rounding and outpatient clinic duties, operating independently to support 14 gastroenterologists. The NP/PA will manage patient consultations, pathology results, medications, and inbox inquiries, as well as perform general GI consultations. A key responsibility is conducting paracentesis procedures daily. The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team, with RN/LVN support available. There are no on-call responsibilities. The position is for an immediate start, with a preferred coverage duration of 6 months (3 months considered for continuity).

Requirements

• Board certified.
• BLS certification (American Hospital Association).
• Inpatient and outpatient experience specifically in gastroenterology.
• Competency in conducting paracentesis.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to integrate into a collaborative team culture.

Nice To Haves

• 6 months coverage duration preferred (3 months considered for continuity).

Responsibilities

• Conducting initial patient consultations.
• Following up with patients on pathology results.
• Managing medication and addressing inbox inquiries.
• Performing general GI consultations.
• Morning rounding (approximately 2 to 2.5 hours).
• Clinic duties for the remainder of the day.
• Conducting paracentesis in the clinic (2-3 procedures daily).
