About The Position

We are seeking a Gastroenterologist for a Locum Tenens position in Tyler, TX. This is an inpatient, call-only role covering from October 15-21, 2026. The average daily volume is 5-7 patients with 4-6 admissions. The facility is a Level I Trauma center utilizing Epic EMR. There are 4 physicians in practice, supported by 1 PA, 2 NPs, and 1-2 RNs. Temporary privileges are available.

Requirements

• Board Certified (BC)
• Licensed in TX
• BLS, ACLS, ATLS, ABLS certifications
• Fellowship required
• Required Procedures: Upper GI endoscopy, ERCP, EUS, Esophageal dilatation/manometry & interpretation, Small Bowel biopsy, Lower GI endoscopy, Colonoscopy, Liver biopsy, Insertion/management of Sengstaken/Blakemore tube

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled colonoscopies on a Mon-Fri schedule.
• Conduct inpatient consultations from the prior night and provide follow-up procedures in the GI lab as needed.
• Provide GI coverage during periods of provider vacation, CME, or scheduling conflicts.
• Collaborate with midlevel providers (NPs and PAs) for pre- and post-procedure patient workups.
• Manage complex GI patients in both clinic and GI lab settings, including endoscopic procedures.
