About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Gasfitter - Class A to join our mechanical team. This position is tailored for a professional who holds or is looking to finish their requirements to achieve their Red Seal Endorsement (RSE). As a Class A Gasfitter, you occupy the highest tier of the gas-fitting trade, authorized to work on appliances and equipment with any BTU input. Whether you are a seasoned Journeyperson or a senior apprentice in the final stages of your certification, you will be expected to uphold the Red Seal Occupational Standard (RSOS) and ensure all high-output industrial and commercial systems are installed and maintained with absolute precision.

Requirements

  • Certification Status: Must be a Journeyperson or a Senior Apprentice currently looking to finish their requirements to achieve their Red Seal Endorsement (RSE).
  • Licensing: Must possess a valid provincial Gasfitter - Class A license (or equivalent for those finishing requirements).
  • Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of thermodynamics, combustion air requirements, and complex electrical schematics.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to work in industrial environments, crawl spaces, and at heights while handling heavy pipe and equipment.
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical failures in high-pressure, high-stakes environments.
  • Driver’s License: Valid Class 5 license with a clean abstract.

Responsibilities

  • High-Output Systems: Install, test, maintain, and service gas-fired equipment of unlimited BTU input, including industrial boilers, large-scale furnaces, and specialized process heating equipment.
  • Piping & Venting: Layout and install gas piping systems (black iron, copper, CSST) and specialized venting systems for high-efficiency commercial equipment.
  • Complex Diagnostics: Troubleshoot advanced control systems, flame safeguards, and electrical/electronic components related to large-scale gas burners.
  • Pressure Testing: Perform rigorous pressure tests on gas lines and equipment to ensure zero leakage and full compliance with provincial safety regulations.
  • Commissioning: Conduct initial start-up and combustion analysis on industrial units, adjusting fuel-air ratios to maximize efficiency and minimize emissions.
  • Safety & Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to provincial safety acts and regulations. Act as the final authority on site for gas safety and system integrity.
  • Mentorship: If certified, supervise and sign off on the hours of junior apprentices (Class B or Class A candidates). If finishing requirements, work with our Journeypersons to master Major Work Activities (MWAs) like industrial burner controls and high-pressure regulators.
