Gas Turbine Mechanical Design Engineer

Cynet Systems•Greenville, SC

About The Position

As a contractor with the Design Liaison Engineering (DLE) team, the Gas Turbine Mechanical Design Engineer contributes to the Gas Turbine Engineering (GTE) organization by providing design engineering support to global supply chain partners. The role supports the qualification of a specific gas turbine domain, working with manufacturing and quality teams to define and execute rigorous qualifications so that the global supply chain can consistently manufacture conforming parts. The position focuses on timely customer solutions through lean, cost-effective manufacturing qualification strategies across internal factories and external suppliers. This includes dispositioning unqualified hardware (NCNs and SDRs) and applying lean principles to improve innovation and productivity in support of a zero-defect culture. It is a hands-on role involving collaboration across engineering teams, suppliers, factories, materials, quality, and sourcing to address complex manufacturing challenges for gas turbine components and assemblies.

  • Work as part of the qualification team to ensure design templates, processes, and QMS standards are properly applied during qualification definition and execution.
  • Promote a safety-first, zero-defect mindset and stop work when conditions are unsafe until safety is restored.
  • Collaborate with Global Supply Chain, Quality, GTE NPI Design, MPE, PDE, Sourcing, Materials, and Controlled Title Holders.
  • Use leadership, teamwork, and communication to drive quality and continuous improvement in internal factories and external suppliers.
  • Design for producibility and lean flow to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain clear, accurate documentation of each qualification step.
