About The Position

Our Advanced Gas Operations (AGO) division is looking for problem solvers who take pride in public safety and thrive in a fast-paced environment. We offer a quality training program and opportunities for advancement. No prior locating experience is needed, but previous industry experience is a plus and will be considered for starting pay. Technicians work independently in the field using a company-provided vehicle and utilize best-in-class ticket and claims management systems.

Requirements

  • Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
  • Ability to travel locally during the business day; some out-of-area or overnight travel may be expected.
  • Able to pass a drug screen (this is a safety-sensitive position).
  • Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
  • Able to stand and walk for long periods of time on varying types of terrain; bend and stoop; lift heavy items up to 75 lbs.
  • Able to distinguish between colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities.
  • Proficiency with technology.
  • Able to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, as well as maps and prints; possess basic math skill to calculate distances.
  • Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous outdoor experience is a plus.
  • Customer service experience is a plus.
  • Previous industry experience is a plus and will be considered when determining starting pay.

Responsibilities

  • Use locating equipment to determine the location of gas lines in a designated area and mark the area with paint and flags to prevent damage to utility infrastructure.
  • Perform some hand digging to unearth gas lines.
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of underground utility infrastructure.
  • Follow all company, client, state, and federal damage prevention guidelines.
  • Potentially locate other utilities in addition to gas lines, depending upon the project assignment.
