About The Position

Gas First Response Fitters are the front line of PSE's emergency response to natural gas incidents. They respond to gas leaks, carbon monoxide alarms, damaged and broken facilities, fires, and other hazardous conditions, taking the actions necessary to protect public safety and maintain the reliability of the gas system. The position requires strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, and a commitment to safety. Fitters inspect, operate, maintain, and repair natural gas facilities and equipment while working closely with customers, emergency responders, contractors, and fellow employees in a wide variety of field conditions. Safety is the number one priority for Puget Sound Energy. This position requires participation in safety and tailgate meetings, performing safety inspections, identification and reporting of safety incidents and unsafe conditions, obtaining and maintaining required licenses and certifications and participation in emergency response drills. This position holds responsibility for gas safety compliance with PSE's Gas Operating Standards and Gas Field Procedures when engaged in operating, maintaining, constructing PSE's natural gas system, and customer equipment. All PSE employees are expected to uphold the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities and promote and support a culture of total safety. Additionally, employees need to demonstrate commitment to conduct business honestly, ethically and consistent with our core values and Code of Conduct. All duties are to be performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations. This job is under federal regulation by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and is subject to pre-employment and random drug screenings that include screening for the presence of marijuana and marijuana metabolites.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic computer skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Five (5) or more years' experience in natural gas distribution construction
  • Working knowledge of gas utility systems, metering, materials and tools
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Maintain necessary certifications and licenses
  • Must reside within PSE's Natural Gas Service Territory counties
  • Must comply with DOT Pipeline Operator Regulations
