About The Position

Under directive supervision, performs gas field planning work for the construction, maintenance, retirement, or renewal of gas transmission and distribution systems, regulating and/or measuring stations, and general plant. This role involves preparing necessary sketches, drawings, estimates, and CMS notes. The planner may assist in the design of complex regulator stations, operate surveying and office equipment, and perform load and pressure drop studies. Responsibilities can also include locating underground facilities, acting as an inspector for contractor work after training, investigating customer concerns, obtaining work permits and easements, and directing the work of others. The role may also involve laying out electric distribution lines and services if qualified, and performing other related or less skilled work.

Requirements

Must possess a minimum of an AAS degree in Mechanical or Civil Technology or its equivalent as determined by an appropriate test.
Knowledge of locating instruments, materials, equipment and apparatus as they apply to this type of work.
Knowledge of company policies, construction standards, accounting procedures, applicable codes, safety rules, CMS procedures, and related computer operations.
General knowledge of the work of other departments to permit coordination of effort.
Must be neat in work and apply the principles of safety and economy.
Must be trustworthy when handling customer or company information or possessions.
Must be capable of assuming minor supervisory responsibilities or making constructive recommendations about new procedures or standards.
Must be able to meet the public in a pleasant, tactful manner.

Responsibilities

Locates underground facilities using electronic equipment.
Acts as an inspector of contractor work after sufficient training.
Investigates customer concerns related to gas service or property damage.
Obtains work permits and easements.
Directs the work of others who may assist.
Lays out electric distribution lines and services, for which qualified.
Performs other related or less skilled work.
