About The Position

Eversource is seeking a Gas Engineer to participate in the planning, development, scheduling, and performance of engineering assignments related to the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of gas distribution and pressure regulating systems. This role involves applying engineering practices under the direction of team members to ensure projects conform to industry standards, guidelines, and regulations. The engineer will be responsible for designing systems, preparing documentation for procurement and construction, specifying materials, developing field procedures, coordinating construction activities, and overseeing construction to ensure compliance. The position also involves reviewing purchase requisitions and invoices, maintaining records, supporting company goals, and assisting in emergency restoration efforts.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of distribution construction and maintenance work practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable governmental code and regulation.
  • Knowledge of welding and fusing principles.
  • Working knowledge of environmental requirements affecting related activities.
  • Familiarity with MS Office and AutoCAD.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or closely related field.
  • Three (3) or more years related experience is required.
  • Valid motor vehicle operator license is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineering design experience preferred.
  • Gas experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Designs systems or installations to fit objectives, conforming to industry standards, guidelines and regulations of federal, state and local authorities.
  • Performs site layouts and prepare necessary documents for procurement, permitting and construction.
  • Specifies and procure materials and equipment.
  • Develops and maintains field procedures to ensure compliance with company standards and procedures, federal, state and local regulations and codes.
  • Coordinates construction activities with customers, contractors, States, Municipalities and internal departments.
  • Assists in the oversite of construction activities to insure specification and code compliance.
  • Ensures compliance with field procedures and the coordination with Gas Control.
  • Reviews purchase requisitions, and invoices related to departmental activity.
  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Maintains accurate records and files.
  • Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
  • Assists in gas distribution system restoration efforts during emergencies.
