About The Position

The Gas Engine Drivability Technician is a highly skilled diagnostic technician responsible for identifying and repairing complex gas engine performance concerns within our Ford Pro/Commercial Vehicle Center (CVC). This position focuses on advanced diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, engine management systems, and drivability-related repairs on Ford vehicles. The ideal candidate has experience with Ford systems, is proficient with Ford diagnostic software, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Requirements

  • Previous automotive technician experience required.
  • Extensive knowledge of Ford vehicles, systems, and repair procedures.
  • Experience using Ford FDRS and IDS diagnostic platforms.
  • Strong understanding of Ford gas engine drivability diagnostics.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair: Check Engine Light and Wrench Light concerns, Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) systems, Electronic modules and component failures, Advanced electronics and engine management systems, Ignition systems, Gas fuel injection systems and fuel delivery systems, Advanced vehicle networking and communication systems, Wiring and circuit faults, Module programming and configuration, Mechanical repairs related to drivability concerns.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to keep pace in a fast-moving, high-volume environment.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair Ford gas engine drivability concerns accurately and efficiently.
  • Utilize Ford FDRS and IDS diagnostic equipment to identify faults and determine proper repair procedures.
  • Diagnose and repair Check Engine Light, Wrench Light, and other engine performance-related concerns.
  • Troubleshoot and repair evaporative emissions (EVAP) systems.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics on ignition systems, fuel injection systems, fuel delivery systems, and engine management systems.
  • Diagnose and repair complex electrical and electronic system concerns.
  • Troubleshoot network communication and module-related faults.
  • Perform module programming, configuration, and software updates.
  • Diagnose and repair wiring concerns, circuit faults, and electrical component failures.
  • Complete mechanical repairs related to engine performance and drivability issues.
  • Interpret wiring diagrams, service information, and Ford repair procedures.
  • Document diagnostic findings and repairs accurately.
  • Maintain productivity and quality standards in a fast-paced shop environment.
