Gas Distribution Technician I
About The Position
This is the first of two levels in the Gas Distribution Maintenance series. Incumbents perform skilled work in the testing, repairs and operation of the Gas Distribution system. Responsibilities may include assisting in testing and repair of industrial and commercial meters and regulators; assisting in inspecting, installing, testing, maintenance, calibration and performing repairs as needed to regulator stations; programming meter correction devices; enforcing safety rules and federal regulations; maintaining records of work performed and equipment tested; and completing standard reports. Requirements
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- Two (2) years of gas construction or gas distribution experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the job's essential duties.
- Possession of a valid Class D Driver’s license.
- Position requires various Natural Gas Operator Qualifications deemed pertinent to position.
Responsibilities
- Assists with the installation, maintenance, testing and repair of natural gas regulator stations and large metering stations, which may include inspection, replacing and removing equipment and materials, and constructing and operating systems as required.
- Troubleshoots abnormal operating conditions within the gas distribution system; receives and responds to work orders concerning commercial and industrial gas consumers and monitors and maintains accurate meter and pressure regulation.
- Prepares, reviews, and maintains a variety of operational records and reports.
- Maintains inventory of parts and equipment in area of responsibility.
- Performs other related work as required.
