About The Position

The Gas/Diesel Mechanic Level A is responsible for is responsible for performing advanced diagnostics, comprehensive mechanical and electrical repairs on commercial trucks and box trucks. This role ensures fleet and customer vehicle safety, reliability, performance, and regulatory compliance. Opportunity to use exceptional skills and knowledge to support overall business goals while mentoring and developing other technicians. Will work very close with management team to provide insight on overall shop operations.

Requirements

  • 6 years of experience diagnosing and repairing light, medium, and heavy-duty commercial trucks.
  • Proven ability to perform full PM services independently.
  • Strong knowledge of air and hydraulic brake systems, clutch systems, drivetrain components, steering and suspension systems, and electrical diagnostics.
  • Experience performing OEM brake jobs, 5th wheel repairs, and major component replacements.
  • Experience with box truck electrical and lighting systems.
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and push/pull up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment and random DOT drug screenings.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience working on Isuzu and Hino truck preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • ASE certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance services in accordance with manufacturer and company standards, including inspections, lubrication, fluid, and filter replacement.
  • Inspect and perform clutch and brake adjustments and related repairs.
  • Inspect, service, and repair 5th wheel assemblies .
  • Perform basic diagnostics and repairs on heating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
  • Conduct steering and suspension repairs, including replacement of related components.
  • Assist with drivetrain repair s , including drivelines, U-joints, and differentials.
  • Accurately document all work performed on repair orders and inspection reports.
  • Operate hand tools, pneumatic tools, and basic diagnostic equipment in a safe manner.
  • Perform state and federal safety inspections as trained and authorized.
  • Assist with emissions-related inspections and maintenance where applicable.
  • Comply with all company safety policies, DOT regulations, and applicable state and federal laws.
  • Ability to keep management aware of any concerns on floor.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to Technicians as needed.
