About The Position

The Gas Commissioning Senior Manager is a high-level technical leader responsible for defining and executing the end-to-end commissioning strategy across a diverse fleet of power generation assets, including large-scale reciprocating engine plants and gas turbine installations. This role serves as the primary technical authority for gas-fired assets during the transition from engineering through commissioning and into operations. A critical component of this role is upstream influence, ensuring that EPC exhibits, modular designs, and multi-OEM system architectures are optimized for successful field execution, performance validation, and long-term reliability. This role initially reports to the Head of O&M and will transition to report to the Head of Commissioning and Reliability as the organization evolves.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in power plant commissioning, with direct expertise across reciprocating engines and gas turbine technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and refining EPC technical exhibits and performance testing protocols for complex, multi-asset projects.
  • Strong ability to lead third-party teams while providing technical guidance and challenge to upstream engineering and design decisions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the review and refinement of EPC contract exhibits related to commissioning, performance testing, and mechanical completion, ensuring commissioning-by-phase requirements are clearly defined.
  • Participate in early-stage engineering design reviews to ensure modular engine pods and turbine enclosures include the instrumentation required for parallel commissioning.
  • Provide technical guidance on integration challenges across multiple OEM platforms, including reciprocating engines and gas turbines.
  • Direct and manage third-party commissioning teams, defining scope, verifying progress, and ensuring alignment with project schedules.
  • Serve as the primary interface with OEM technical representatives to ensure systems meet performance, heat rate, and emissions guarantees.
  • Ensure full execution of commissioning protocols, from point-to-point checks through full-load and grid compliance testing.
  • Coordinate fuel infrastructure readiness, including pipeline lateral integration and first gas events, ensuring gas quality and pressure meet system requirements.
  • Oversee validation of plant-wide control systems, including master plant controllers and hybrid SCADA environments integrating generation and storage assets.
  • Ensure capture of high-quality commissioning data, including performance curves and baseline operating profiles, to support long-term reliability programs.
  • Lead the technical transition to operations teams, ensuring complete and accurate transfer of documentation, test results, and system configurations.
