Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or equivalent field of study; or more than 7+ years of related GC or laboratory experience, including any managerial experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, validate, and optimize complex GC analytical methods for diverse sample matrices (gases, liquids, hydrocarbons, polymers, environmental samples, etc.).
  • Drive advanced separation analysis using TCD, FID, and FPD detectors.
  • Engage the GC Application Engineering team to develop protocols for sample preparation and injection techniques.
  • Engage in internal team execution and tuning functions for GC application development.
  • Conduct in-depth data analysis, including integration review, peak identification, quantification of trace-level analytes, and conduct root cause analysis to engage the team with improvements.
  • Oversee maintenance plans for all GC equipment, including column installation, detector maintenance, leak checks, pump servicing, and system troubleshooting.
  • Maintain complete and accurate laboratory logs and electronic records.
  • Champion the monitoring of system performance, calibration status, and consumable usage.
  • Ensure all GC methods and processes comply with organizational, industry, and regulatory standards (ISO, ASTM, EPA, FDA, etc., if applicable).
  • Facilitate documentation updates for SOPs, methods, calibration protocols, and validation reports.
  • Drive operational readiness for internal and external audits and provide expert technical responses.
  • Manage factory acceptance testing (FAT) and oversee demonstration of the GCs to customers and end users, as well as manage the FAT action items.
  • Ensure organizational adherence to laboratory safety protocols, chemical handling procedures, and waste disposal requirements.
  • Lead and coordinate continuous improvement initiatives to increase laboratory throughput, reliability, and data accuracy, as well as harmonizing organizational growth initiatives.
  • Champion the development of training programs for new hires, as well as coordinating refresher training and knowledge sharing.
  • Leading and ensuring consistent and compliant quality risk assessments.
  • Provides support to the Proposals team and Project Engineering team on customer inquiries; Determine feasibility of applications and designs gas chromatograph customer specific applications for quotation costing.
  • Mentors Lead Technical Specialist in assigning tasks to subordinates, meeting lab production schedules and ensuring product quality.
  • Manage inventory management for items such as cylinders, regulators, tubing, column packing materials, and spare parts.
  • Interface with Project Managers to provide execution progress updates and estimated labor forecast.
  • Oversee the management of shipping and receiving the GCs.
