About The Position

The University of Sydney is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and qualified Gardener to join its Open Spaces team. This role involves performing tasks related to the maintenance and development of the University's grounds, ensuring they are kept to a high standard in a timely and cost-effective manner. The grounds are recognized for their local heritage and natural beauty, and the Open Spaces team is responsible for their upkeep, repair, and replacement.

Requirements

Certificate III in Horticulture, Certificate III in Parks & Gardens, Certificate III in Landscape, or a Certificate III in Turf.
A C class driver's license and the ability to drive a manual vehicle (essential).
Experience in Horticulture including garden maintenance, soft and hard landscaping.
A good understanding of work-related trades and how they interrelate.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, in various locations (including all metropolitan campuses) and in all weather conditions as required.
Sound knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office Suite of Applications.
Unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of the employment.

Responsibilities

Perform grounds maintenance tasks on the Campus.
Assist in ensuring property, plant & WHS elements are maintained in pristine condition.
Adhere to all WH&S Policies and procedures as directed by any Senior Grounds Officer, Grounds Supervisor or Landscape and Grounds Manager.
Provide reliable, consistent and professional service, keeping the client informed regularly.
