About The Position

The University of Sydney is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and qualified Gardener to join its Open Spaces team. This role involves performing tasks related to the maintenance and development of the University's grounds, ensuring they are kept to a high standard in a timely and cost-effective manner. The grounds are recognized for their local heritage and natural beauty, and the Open Spaces team is responsible for their upkeep, repair, and replacement.

Requirements

  • Certificate III in Horticulture, Certificate III in Parks & Gardens, Certificate III in Landscape, or a Certificate III in Turf.
  • A C class driver's license and the ability to drive a manual vehicle (essential).
  • Experience in Horticulture including garden maintenance, soft and hard landscaping.
  • A good understanding of work-related trades and how they interrelate.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, in various locations (including all metropolitan campuses) and in all weather conditions as required.
  • Sound knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office Suite of Applications.
  • Unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of the employment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform grounds maintenance tasks on the Campus.
  • Assist in ensuring property, plant & WHS elements are maintained in pristine condition.
  • Adhere to all WH&S Policies and procedures as directed by any Senior Grounds Officer, Grounds Supervisor or Landscape and Grounds Manager.
  • Provide reliable, consistent and professional service, keeping the client informed regularly.
