About The Position

This position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks in the maintenance and care of school grounds and athletic fields. The Gardener II performs skilled landscaping and grounds maintenance work, including operating and maintaining grounds equipment, planting and caring for trees, shrubs, and flowers, and performing related work as required. This role may also involve supervising and training lower-level grounds personnel.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Two years of experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping.
Valid Nevada Driver's License.
Ability to operate and maintain grounds maintenance equipment.
Knowledge of horticultural practices, including planting, pruning, and pest control.
Ability to perform heavy physical labor.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Nice To Haves

Experience with athletic field maintenance.
Experience operating tractors and other heavy equipment.
Knowledge of irrigation systems.
Supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

Operates and maintains a variety of grounds maintenance equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, edgers, tillers, and tractors.
Performs planting, cultivating, watering, fertilizing, pruning, and pest control for trees, shrubs, flowers, and turf.
Maintains athletic fields, including lining, mowing, and preparing fields for athletic events.
Operates power tools and hand tools used in grounds maintenance.
Performs minor repairs and maintenance on grounds equipment.
Assists with irrigation system maintenance and repair.
Removes litter and debris from school grounds.
Operates a motor vehicle to transport materials and equipment.
May supervise and train lower-level grounds personnel.
Follows safety procedures and guidelines.
