About The Position

The Garden Shop Assistant will have a passion for plants and gardening, excellent customer service skills, and a strong work ethic. This role involves assisting customers with inquiries and purchases, providing advice on plants and gardening supplies, maintaining a clean and organized environment, and stocking merchandise. The assistant will also learn about the seasonality of products and ensure displays are well-merchandised.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years and older
• Safely operate a forklift and all other equipment used in the day-to-day operation of the garden shop
• Demonstrate safe usage of box cutters, skid sheers, and other hand tools
• Great customer service skills
• Good communication skills, both written and oral
• Good organizational skills
• The ability to multi-task

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of plants is a plus but not required
• Demonstrate a vast knowledge of plants & garden equipment

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and assist them with their inquiries and purchases
• Provide advice on plants, gardening tools, and landscaping materials
• Maintain a clean and organized environment
• Unpack and stock merchandise on shelves and displays
• Learn the seasonality of Garden Shop products, including Spring, Fall, and Christmas products
• Ensure displays are full and merchandised, with appropriate signage
• Provides quality customer service, including interacting with customers, answering customer inquiries, and effectively handling customer complaints
• Other projects, as needed
