About The Position

The Garage Mechanic will ensure optimal performance and functionality of motor vehicles and warehouse equipment and machinery within Joy Baking Group. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to analyze technical information, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The mechanic will be responsible for routine maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and documentation, as well as assisting with service call outs and parking lot maintenance. Adherence to company policies, including GMP and attendance, is essential.

Requirements

  • Strong ability to analyze/interpret technical information and form conclusions.
  • Able to identify areas that need attention and either address or report as necessary.

  • Follow direction and perform assigned work duties independently with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain clean and safe driving record per DOT regulations for Class A CDL driver.
  • Understanding of and adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols, including the correct selection, use, maintenance, and disposal of PPE in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards.
  • This position involves regular bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting.
  • Must be able to operate equipment and use power tools.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Good hand dexterity with manual tools.
  • Must maintain a current license with no violations and be able to drive a motor vehicle.
  • Able to stand and/or walk up to 12 hours per day, climb, reach and regularly use stairs.
  • Must be able to safely lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Good understanding of and strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Policies (GMP).
  • Adherence to the company attendance policy is required, including expectations of punctuality and limited unapproved absences.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in equipment maintenance, support, or a related technical role.
  • Current driver’s license with no violations.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certification or degree in a relevant field.
  • Valid CDL Class A.
  • PA Inspection license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance services including oil changes, fluid level checks, tire replacements, and other scheduled preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools to accurately identify issues related to engines, transmissions, brake systems, and other key vehicle components.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and components such as batteries, alternators, starters, and vehicle lighting.
  • Replace worn or damaged parts including brake pads, drive belts, filters, and other mechanical components as needed.
  • Operate and maintain various tools and equipment, including vehicle lifts, jacks, pneumatic tools, and computerized diagnostic systems in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to identify potential mechanical or electrical issues and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation of all inspections, services, and repairs performed, in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment by maintaining workbenches, tools, and the garage area.
  • Perform detailed vehicle inspections and regularly scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) to support optimal vehicle performance and reliability.
  • Assist with and share responsibility for responding to mechanical service call outs and parking lot maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
