About The Position

Belfonte is looking for a Diesel Mechanic to perform servicing and repair of diesel fleet equipment. This role involves a full line of service work, troubleshooting reported problems, and conducting federal-approved inspections. The mechanic may also be required to overhaul diesel engines. The position requires the ability to drive tractor-trailer units and trucks to test drive and ensure repair work is correct. The mechanic must be able to follow written and verbal instructions, including blueprints, wiring diagrams, and service manuals. Good communication skills are essential for completing written work reports. The ability to work independently and with others is also important. The role involves working in extreme temperatures (over 100 degrees Fahrenheit and down to 20 degrees Fahrenheit below zero) and in wet and humid environments for extended periods. Physical requirements include bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, and working overhead and at ground level. Maintaining a safe and clean work area and working in a safe and efficient manner are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

Required but not mandatory, CLD class A (must be willing to get eventually)
Must be able to arc weld and solder
Must possess basic skills in reading wiring diagrams and troubleshooting electrical problems associated with diesel engines
Must possess good working knowledge of diesel engine repair and overhaul
Successful candidate must supply his own hand tools
Must be able to follow both written and verbal instructions and follow blueprint, wiring diagrams, and service manuals
Must possess good communication skills, both verbal and written, in order to complete written work reports
Must be able to work well independently and with others
Must be able to work in both very hot (more than 100 degrees) and very cold (20 degrees below zero) and in a very wet and humid environment for extended periods of time
Must be able to bend, crawl, climb, squat, and work on items both above the head and at ground level during repair and maintenance operations
