About The Position

Flex-N-Gate is a leading manufacturer and supplier of components for the automotive industry. This role is for a Garage Mechanic responsible for diagnosing, inspecting, and repairing all company-owned Powered Industrial Equipment, including hi-los, switcher trucks, and company vehicles. The position involves performing repairs and preventative maintenance on all equipment within the facility.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with hand and power tools necessary to complete work in this field (company provides large tools and equipment, but not normal hand tools up to 1 ½ “in size).
  • Ability to run overhead cranes and misc. maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot all aspects of an industrial truck, including fuel systems (propane, gasoline, and diesel), hydraulic systems, electronics, and mechanical units.
  • Ability to attach and read necessary testing equipment.
  • Ability to lift, bend, twist, squat, climb, kneel, stand or walk continuously in close, confined surroundings.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Good attendance record: 2.0 or better.
  • Minimum 4 years relevant experience, with documentation.
  • Must be able to pass entry level mechanical testing.
  • Must be able to work mandatory OT as required 6-7 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, inspect, and repair all company-owned Powered Industrial Equipment, including hi-los, switcher trucks, and company vehicles.
  • Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on every piece of equipment within the facility.
  • Troubleshoot all aspects of an industrial truck, including fuel systems (propane, gasoline, and diesel), hydraulic systems, electronics, and mechanical units.
  • Attach and read necessary testing equipment.
  • Perform repairs ranging from changing headlights to complete overhauls.
  • Follow preventative maintenance procedures as directed and suggest improvements.
  • Track and maintain all parts in storage.
  • Diagnose problems and find necessary parts from equipment manuals, submitting parts lists to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Check in/out any rental equipment as needed.
  • Perform all other miscellaneous duties and functions as may be assigned, including working in all classifications the employee may be assigned to.
