About The Position

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. The role is located at the Charleroi, PA Service Center. The Garage Mechanic B will be responsible for servicing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing the FE fleet, which includes all types of motor vehicles, motorized equipment, and tools. This includes providing emergency road repairs, towing, ferrying, and equipment demonstration. The position requires performing physical work under various conditions, including lifting and positioning heavy parts and equipment. A working knowledge of garage work, including general mechanical and electrical repair on heavy trucks, cars, trailers, and field equipment, as well as hydraulics and hydraulic systems, is necessary. The role also involves preparing accurate records and reports, and performing storm restoration duties, which may require out-of-town stays and extended work hours.

Requirements

  • Two years of Automotive/Diesel Mechanic trade school or five years of recent full-time experience as a fleet mechanic.
  • Working knowledge of garage work, including performing general mechanical and electrical repair work on heavy trucks, cars, trailers, and field equipment.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to prepare accurate records and reports, both written and electronic.
  • Successful candidate must be willing to live within 45 minutes of the Service Center.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a garage mechanic working on large vehicles, including knowledge of vehicle diagnostic system and methods.
  • Class A CDL Preferred
  • Class 7 Inspection License preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ability and willingness to work safely, following all company safety rules and practices.
  • Service, inspect, maintain, and repair the FE fleet, which includes all types of motor vehicles, motorized equipment, and tools.
  • Provide emergency road repairs, towing, ferrying, and equipment demonstration.
  • Perform physical work under various conditions, including lifting and positioning heavy parts and equipment while working under vehicles or in an upright position.
  • Perform general mechanical and electrical repair work on heavy trucks, cars, trailers, and field equipment.
  • Work with hydraulics and hydraulic systems.
  • Prepare accurate records and reports, both written and electronic.
  • Perform storm restoration duties within and outside FirstEnergy Service Company service territory, which may require out of town stays and working extended work hours any day of the week including holidays.
