About The Position

WPS, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Garage Mechanic 3 or higher in our Green Bay, Wisconsin location. This position is represented by Local No. 420 IUOE. The Garage Mechanic assists with repairing and maintaining company vehicles by performing preventive maintenance inspection and servicing, non-critical welding, tire repairs, and vehicle cleaning.

Requirements

High School Diploma, GED or HSED
2+ years of experience with repairing/servicing automobiles, trucks, buses, industrial/military vehicles, agriculture equipment, aviation equipment, construction equipment or railroad equipment
2+ years of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) experience
Valid Drivers License
Must have a valid CDL or be able to obtain a CDL with a valid medical certification within six months of hire
Construction and Skilled Trades (CAST): Comprehension of pictured mechanical principles such as gears, levers, pulley systems, water flow, etc.; arithmetic skills in calculating distances shown in prints and drawings; and the ability to read and understand written material.

Responsibilities

Perform type “A”, “B”, and Aerial preventive maintenance inspection and servicing: Lubricate chassis, change engine oil and filters, check all fluid levels, inspect brake assemblies, tune engines, service cooling systems, service automatic transmissions
Perform operational, condition, and safety inspection of vehicle
Perform Aerial inspections and repairs in compliance with ANSI, OSHA, and DOT requirements
Diagnose, service, adjust, repair, replace, rebuild, and overhaul various vehicle parts and components
Perform required machining operations: Resurface brake drums and rotors, hone brake cylinders, bore cylinders, grind valves
Perform oxygen-acetylene, electric arc, and hard facing welding in non-critical areas
Change and repair tires
Clean and wash vehicles and work equipment
Provide relief for other positions as required and work without assistance in job areas where sufficient knowledge and training are present: Attend company-sponsored classes, Obtain necessary training to learn duties of positions with progression
