About The Position

Xcel Energy is seeking a Rotating Garage Foreman to be located at the Sioux Falls Service Center in Sioux Falls, SD. This position offers leadership opportunities and the chance to work on a variety of vehicles and equipment. The role involves inspecting, servicing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles, trailers, aerials, and power-operated equipment. Work will be performed primarily in a company service garage with occasional job site field service work. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, customer service-driven, detail-oriented, and quality-focused, able to work both independently and in a team environment. This position requires frequent lifting in excess of 50 lbs and prolonged standing. Key success factors include the ability to inspect, service, diagnose, and perform minor and major repairs on electrical, hydraulic, air conditioning, gasoline, and diesel systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A two-year technical, vocational or trade school diploma in automotive, truck, and/or heavy equipment service repair and maintenance OR five years verifiable experience in these defined fields.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Must meet all requirements of FMCSR Parts 382 and 391 including the possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class A) or willing/able to obtain within 6 months of employment.
  • Must currently have or be able to obtain a Minnesota annual vehicle inspectors' certification.
  • Ability to read/write and understand the English language, perform basic mathematics and possess basic computer skills.
  • Must furnish standard and metric tools in accordance with the Fleet department's required tool list.
  • A high level of safety awareness with a demonstrated commitment to working safely at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • Fluid Power Society and/or ASE certifications desired.
  • Selection criteria may include testing and/or assessment.
  • Must live within 20 mi of the reporting location.

  • Provide leadership and work direction to subordinates.
  • Coordinate and prioritize work based on customers’ needs.
  • Inspect, service, repair, and maintain vehicles, trailers, aerials, and power-operated equipment.
  • Perform minor and major repairs to electrical, hydraulic, air conditioning, gasoline, and diesel systems.
