About The Position

Garage Door Doctor, an affiliate of A1 Garage Door in Phoenix, Arizona, is seeking high-performing individuals to join their team in Houston, TX. This Installer job is physically demanding and requires stamina and enthusiasm. While no prior experience with garage doors is necessary, the company provides comprehensive training on all aspects of the role, including customer service, to ensure success in your own market. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, organized, methodical, clean, enjoys helping people, takes pride in their work, and is described as handy, reliable, and trustworthy. They should be self-motivated, enjoy working autonomously, and be comfortable with a fast-paced environment where no task is too small or too large. Previous experience in similar industries such as installation or assembly (windows & doors, flooring, carpentry, kitchen installation, furniture/fixtures/bike assembly) is a plus. Candidates who prefer not to interact with customers, dislike manual labor, are not weather-resistant, or are unlikely to apply learned skills with enthusiasm should not apply.

Requirements

  • Able to bend, climb, kneel and stand for long periods
  • Physically able to lift 75lbs, lift garage door panels above head
  • Able to stand on ladder
  • Knowledge of hand tools (Power drill, hammer, saw etc.)
  • Valid driver’s license for at least 3 years with a clean driving record
  • Knowledge of basic software such as navigation apps, Google etc. as well as tablet and computer use
  • Reading skills as well as basic math skills (measurements, payments) are required
  • Professional & approachable appearance
  • Current eligibility to legally work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in similar industries, performing installation or assembly (Windows & doors, flooring, carpentry, kitchen installation, furniture/fixtures/bike assembly etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Install new garage doors for residential customers
  • Remove existing door and mechanical parts
  • Replace worn or broken door parts using tools
  • Assemble mechanical parts
  • Install springs, sections, slats, and hardware
  • Run wiring to connect equipment
  • Lubricate and test mechanical parts for proper functioning
  • Educate customers on upgraded parts and services and ensure satisfaction
  • Document activities related to installations
