About The Position

Coordinate and make improvements to processes within the scope of responsibility to reduce overall cycle time, improve quality, and process uptime. Perform duties to maintain, troubleshoot, and operate machine equipment using blueprints, electrical diagrams, pneumatic diagrams, and equipment and process control manuals/instructions. This is a set-up/operator position and will be expected to perform direct and indirect team duties in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot faults and work on CNC equipment, which includes vision-guided robots.
  • Visually inspect parts for doubles, contamination, incomplete etch, scratches, deformed parts, etc.
  • Clean-up/clean out machines and sort parts and send to correct area.
  • Handle safe start-up and shut down of equipment following standard procedures.
  • Ability to use mechanical, math, and organizational skills for daily problem solving.
  • Able to apply all safety guidelines of operation in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work amicably with co-workers responsible for the output of the machine.
  • Must direct all activities concerning the machine’s uptime and accountable for clearing all fault conditions.
  • In the event a fault cannot be fixed promptly, the technician is responsible for getting help from the team leader or maintenance.
  • AAS in the Technical field or equivalent technical experience w/Gantry Robots and CNC controls (at least two or more years).

Responsibilities

  • Perform and verify machine set-ups & changeovers.
  • Troubleshoot/Problem-solve all equipment-related malfunctions & downtime including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, PLC, robotic vision-guided software offsets & servo problems.
  • Adjust machine hardware, such as sensors, motion control devices & mechanical components.
  • Adjust process parameters.
  • Call up correct program for CNC machine & gantry automation, check settings for proper axis & coordinate positions.
  • Verify proper machine parameters in CNC & robot programs.
  • Teach points, start-up equipment, perform operator PM (check fluid levels, pneumatics for leaks, filter conditions, etc).
  • Manage T-Hanger/Hanger maintenance and troubleshoot/conveyor system including; identifying, removing, replacing and repairing damaged conveyor components.
  • Identify, correct, and communicate various up/downstream process issues that reduce process output or impact quality.
  • Manage the repair of all conveyor components and store them in an organized manner in the department and central stores.
  • Run test & prototype parts as needed, which includes documentation & any required process checks.
  • Respond to SPC data & decide regarding process adjustment.
  • Analyze machine rejects & determine the nature of the problem & adjust process or machine.
  • Provide technical assistance/direction to skilled trades.
  • Inspect parts per QSS, check visually for doubles, surface defects & dimensional defects as specified.
  • Adjust program settings for tool replacement compensation.
  • Perform work orders & other support duties as defined.
  • Maintain all logbooks & performance measures.
  • Understand QSS, POS & gage instructions & operate in accordance to these documents.
  • Load machine & keep it supplied with parts.
  • Employ 5S principles to keep work area & machines clean & functioning properly.
  • Use dial indicators, micrometers & other hand tools.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
