About The Position
The Florida Gaming Control Commission is responsible for exercising all regulatory and executive powers of the state with respect to legal gaming, including pari-mutuel wagering, cardrooms, slot machine facilities, oversight of gaming compacts, and other forms of gambling authorized by state law, excluding the Lottery, as well as directly enforcing Florida’s gaming laws and combatting illegal gambling activities. The agency is overseen by five Commissioners who are appointed by the Governor, with Commissioners appointing an Executive Director who leads a team of more than 200 staff members. The mission of the Florida Gaming Control Commission is to preserve and protect the integrity of gaming activities through fair regulation, licensing, effective criminal investigation, and enforcement. The Division of Gaming Enforcement is a criminal justice agency comprised of sworn law enforcement officers and criminal intelligence analysts handling complex cases involving RICO, money laundering, and illegal gambling throughout the state. Requirements
- Admission to the Florida Bar
- At least two (2) years of professional experience in the practice of law, legal research, teaching law, or in administrative or judicial hearings, with at least one (1) year of experience in criminal prosecution or criminal defense
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Working knowledge of Fourth Amendment search and seizure law
- Skill in drafting legal documents
- Skill in managing multiple complex cases
- Ability to use Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
- Ability to prioritize work
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to conduct legal research
- Ability to make oral presentations in court and in large groups
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
- Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques
- Ability to manage a litigation case load
- Ability to recognize and act on emerging issues and shifting priorities
- Ability to adapt to changing work volume and variety and work efficiently under stressful situations

Responsibilities
- Furnishing legal guidance to law enforcement officers throughout all stages of their criminal investigative process
- Issuance and service of subpoenas
- Drafting of constitutionally sound search and arrest warrants
- Advising on optimal practices for report composition
- Represent the Commission in all Florida Contraband Forfeiture Act proceedings
- Continuously review the Division of Gaming Enforcement’s policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
