Nucor Steel West Virginia is seeking a Galvanize Metallurgist. The Galvanize Metallurgist will be responsible for the day to day dispositioning of non-conforming material from the Galvanize Lines. This person will have the responsibility of assigning the appropriate processing steps for each galvanized order. The Metallurgist will be heavily involved in process improvements in collaboration with the Operations Team. This person will also be involved with Product Development working in conjunction with the Sales Team and the upstream Metallurgical Team. The Galvanize Metallurgist will also be involved with Claims Investigations partnering with the Technical Service Representatives. Nucor Steel West Virginia’s greenfield project is a new state-of-the-art sheet steel mill that will produce up to 3 million tons per year once fully operational. This advanced manufacturing facility is located in Mason County, along the Ohio River in close proximity to both Huntington and Charleston, WV. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Material Science, or equivalent
Minimum of one year of galvanizing line experience
Ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times

Nice To Haves

Experience with hot dip galvanized and galvannealed

Responsibilities

Dispositioning of non-conforming material from the Galvanize Lines
Assigning the appropriate processing steps for each galvanized order
