The Huntington Beach Art Center provides outstanding exhibitions, public programs, and a wide variety of cultural arts classes to enrich the lives of our residents and visitors of all ages. We are seeking two part-time Gallery Aides who are passionate about supporting a multi-faceted arts organization with a commitment to serving the community. The ideal candidates will use their museum, arts, and culture experience and skills to support and enhance arts access and participation. Under the direction of the Art Center's Community and Library Services Coordinator, the incumbents will receive various scheduling assignments, including nights, weekends, and special events. Effective and cooperative communication, interpersonal skills, arts and culture education and experience, and the ability to thrive in a busy environment requiring attention to detail are essential. This recruitment may close at any time, and will close as soon as the hiring manager determines that enough qualified applications have been received. Temporary/part-time employment is restricted to 1,000 hours within a 12-month period (July 1 – June 30) and does not qualify to receive City benefits, except those required by law. The City does not belong to the Social Security system. However, enrollment in an alternative retirement program is mandatory which requires an employee contribution of 7½% of base earnings to the Public Agency Retirement System (PARS). There are no rights to employment and employment may end with or without cause or advance notice. Further restrictions apply to CalPERS Retired Annuitants.
