About The Position

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Gage Inspector for the 2nd shift to inspect a wide range of complex new and altered fixtures and gages for conformance to specifications. This role involves working from complicated tool and part drawings, sample parts, established quality procedures, and general instructions to plan operations, set up work, and select methods to perform inspection functions. The inspector will use algebraic, geometric, and trigonometric functions to calculate dimensions and make other computations. Responsibilities include inspecting gages, fixtures, and test equipment using precision measuring instruments, planning the sequence of inspection operations, and assisting with the tryout of new gages. This is an onsite role requiring U.S. citizenship.

Requirements

  • Requires a well-rounded knowledge of inspection methods and practices, the reading and interpretation of complicated drawings, and the application of shop mathematics including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry to inspect gages, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Also requires familiarity with the principles of electronic and optical measuring equipment and shop practices.
  • High School diploma or GED.

  • 4 Plus years experience in Inspection
  • 2 plus years trades training.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect a wide range of complex new and altered fixtures and gages for conformance to specifications.
  • Work from complicated tool and part drawings, sample parts, established quality procedures, and general instructions to plan operations, set up work, and select methods to perform inspection functions.
  • Use algebraic, geometric, and trigonometric functions to calculate dimensions, convert between angular and linear dimensions, and make other computations required to set up and inspect.
  • Inspect gages, fixtures, and test equipment, using rotary tables and other precision measuring instruments required to perform close tolerance inspection operations involving complex angular locations and/or relationship of several diameters or surfaces and concentricity’s.
  • Plan sequence of inspection operations and position items with most suitable and adaptable holding devices to check the most dimensions with a minimum of setups and repositioning.
  • Assist with the tryout of new gages on parts, and in determination of wear dimensions, marking drawings accordingly, and establishing history folders.
  • Perform other related work of a comparable or lower skill level as required to support gage standards and inspection operations.
