About The Position

Viridian Staffing's Client is looking for an experienced, self-starter to become an Accountant in Paterson, New Jersey. This position is on-site and does not offer remote work. The company operates within the commercial, medical, and industrial cannabis/hemp industry. The ideal candidate will be proactive, adaptable to a new industry, and capable of developing solutions for challenges such as the 280e tax code and limited banking resources. Strong diplomacy, written and verbal communication skills, integrity, and discretion are essential. Experience with audits, financial statements, payroll, account reconciliations, bookkeeping, and month-end closes is required. This role is for a positive, assertive Accounting professional with a hands-on approach.

Requirements

3+ years of work experience in GAAP Accounting
Exceptional analytical and strategic Accounting skills
Experience in the areas of business tax preparation, audit and compliance driven accounting
Proficiency with and ability to ramp up quickly on enterprise software solutions.
Proven experience with Quickbooks Desktop and Online
Knowledge of payroll entry allocation
Knowledge of financial reports such as but not limited to the following: Profit & Loss (P&L), Balance Sheet, etc.
Cash Management experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business
Diplomacy
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Integrity and discretion

Nice To Haves

Experience in Manufacturing, Retail, and/or Cannabis industries

Responsibilities

Deal with and develop solutions for challenges including the 280e tax code and a lack of banking resources.
Perform audits.
Prepare financial statements.
Manage payroll.
Perform account reconciliations.
