About The Position

The Produce Department Manager at Walmart leads produce associates and oversees department processes to ensure high customer service and meet production targets. Responsibilities include receiving merchandise, maintaining sales floor presentation, recruiting and training staff, engaging with customers, managing inventory and merchandising programs, handling claims and returns, and completing necessary paperwork related to inventory and sales.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving and documenting inventory, including receiving merchandise, using equipment safely and appropriately, monitoring equipment condition for repair needs, and accurately completing administrative documents, records, and other required documents.
  • Maintaining sales floor presentation by stocking and rotating merchandise, removing damaged or expired products, setting up and maintaining displays, and verifying the accuracy of signage and prices.
  • Participating in the recruitment, selection, training, and development of produce associates to foster their performance and engagement.
  • Providing excellent customer service by greeting customers in a friendly and professional manner, assisting them with product selection and locating merchandise, and promoting products and services to facilitate their purchasing decisions.
  • Managing all aspects of produce department planning according to the Store-within-a-Store (SWAS) principle, participating in SWAS meetings, reviewing reports on food products, orders, and sales, and ensuring adequate stock levels through the implementation of merchandising and replenishment programs.
  • Ensuring proper handling of claims and returns, securing merchandise, identifying high-shrinkage items, and maintaining a safe work environment in accordance with company guidelines and procedures.
  • Completing and maintaining required documents, including inventory tracking reports, spoilage logs, invoices, and assignment notes.
