About The Position

This is a Federal Work Study Program (FWSP) student labor position which serves as a “Student Parking Ambassador” for the Department of Transportation and Parking. The primary function of all student parking ambassadors is to patrol the various parking lots on campus to enforce parking regulations. This position requires heavy, physical, and/or manual labor, including moving equipment, event set up and teardown, working outdoors on grounds in various weather conditions, and assisting with preventive maintenance.

Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Ability to work outside, on foot, in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work various hours, including evenings.
  • Ability to work various events including some holidays and weekends.
  • Ability to explain and enforce parking rules and regulations.
  • Ability to report suspicious activity and safety infractions to supervisor.
  • Ability to operate enforcement equipment (tablets, radios, printers, etc.).
  • Must be responsible, detail-oriented, punctual, and flexible.
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • For Federal Work Study Program (FWSP) positions, students must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours (undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (graduate).
  • If a student is enrolled in their final semester and the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of remaining credit hours needed to graduate and the anticipated graduation date) and provide the letter to the hiring department for submission to Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol campus parking lots to uphold and enforce UCO's parking rules and regulations.
  • Observe permitted lots, pay lots, and reserved spaces to identify rule infractions/safety violations and issue citations as necessary.
  • Receive and validate hits sent out from the LPR (License Plate Recognition) vehicles and issue citations as necessary.
  • Monitor and report on parking lot occupancy.
  • Answer customer questions and provide general parking information.
  • Perform minor parking lot maintenance such as replacing signs and painting parking lots.
  • Perform manual tasks and, when needed, light administrative duties.
  • Work special events, such as graduation, athletic events, and other events as required.
  • In times of need, help other areas in Campus Enterprises as directed.
