About The Position

Distant Moon invites prospective collaborators to introduce themselves even when no matching opening is advertised. The invitation is open to people whose strengths include directing, producing, cinematography, editing, sound, design, production support, or filmmaking operations. Applicants should share work they are proud of, explain their contributions, describe relevant experience or capabilities, and explain their interest in Distant Moon and the kind of work they hope to pursue. They may indicate interest in employment, freelance projects, or either.

Submissions should include a resume, portfolio, reel, or work samples with an explanation of the applicant’s contribution, and a short note about why they want to work with Distant Moon. For nonvisual or confidential work, applicants may provide relevant examples or describe supported projects. This is an ongoing invitation rather than an advertised vacancy. Distant Moon may retain submissions and contact people if an opportunity aligns with their skills and interests, but does not promise an interview or individual response.

Distant Moon creates documentary, commercial, educational, and narrative films and media for mission-driven clients and partners. Some clients are Christian organizations and conservative institutions, and some projects communicate explicitly Christian beliefs or conservative perspectives. Collaborators are expected to serve these projects thoughtfully and professionally; personal agreement with every viewpoint is not required. The company values collaboration, good communication, and polished, emotionally grounded work. Its purpose-built creative studio is in Leesburg, Virginia. Staff positions generally involve in-person work, while some roles require travel or on-location production. Freelance arrangements vary by project.
