About The Position

The Future Operations Planning Analyst (FUOPs) supports USSOCOM planning by synchronizing and assessing future operations, integrating operational, intelligence, and resourcing inputs. Duties include developing readiness and decision-support products, drafting CONOPS/FRAGOs and briefings, facilitating planning boards, and analyzing risks. Requires BA, 10+ years DoD planning experience, SOF/USSOCOM background, JOPP/PPBE familiarity, and TS/SCI clearance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in joint operational planning, operational analysis, or programmatic support to DoD organizations.
  • At least 5 years of experience supporting SOF or USSOCOM components in a planning, analytical, or advisory capacity.
  • Familiarity with the Joint Operational Planning Process (JOPP), SOF mission sets, and interagency coordination.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to translate complex operational data into actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and collaborative planning tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to develop concise, mission-relevant briefings.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced, high-tempo environments.
  • Understanding of DoD and USSOCOM staff processes, planning cycles, and battle rhythm events.
  • Must possess and maintain a current TS/SCI clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Prior staff advisory experience supporting USSOCOM.
  • Familiarity with DoD planning, programming, budgeting, and execution (PPBE) processes.
  • Experience with mission rehearsal, wargaming, or operational risk analysis tools.

Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical, programmatic, and technical support for future operations synchronization and assessment.
  • Develop and refine future operational plans, concepts, strategies, and supporting planning documents.
  • Coordinate operational planning across USSOCOM directorates, Components, and TSOCs.
  • Produce data-driven readiness analyses and decision-support products for planning and resourcing.
  • Consolidate stakeholder inputs to prepare CONOPS, FRAGOs, and related planning products.
  • Facilitate planning meetings and synchronization boards; document outcomes and track action items.
  • Analyze mission dependencies, risks, and constraints; recommend improvements to operational agility.
