About The Position

Surgical Technician or higher credentialed clinical team member responsible for hands-on, clinical support of all aspects of the UOI specialty, surgical service lines; including but not limited to the Fusion Biopsy program (primary emphasis), SpaceOar, and supporting programs such as Active Surveillance to maximize patient support and treatment.

  • Surgical Technician or higher
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before individuals or groups of people.
  • Ability to calculate basic figures and amounts.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of basic computer software.

Responsibilities

  • Act as surgical tech supporting the provider with in-office or ASC Fusion Biopsy procedures: ensuring machine/equipment is present and in working condition, operating/procedure room set up, ensure patient education is in the pre-operative area and necessary consents are in place, assisting and completing necessary procedures, stabilizing patient after each procedure, working with the Team Coordinator to ensure successful follow through post procedures for all patients.
  • For Fusion Biopsy, collaboration with the Team Navigator and Coordinator regarding various radiology centers and radiologists to obtain patient MRIs or other necessary images and to ensure MRIs are marked prior to day of surgery.
  • Maintaining working relationships with all ASCs as well as training of staff in those facilities.
  • Work with the Team Navigator and Coordinator in evaluating volumes and ensuring access and scheduling needs are met.
  • Cross train on all specialty service line procedures, focusing on procedural development, physician scheduling, volume management and in/out referral pathways
  • Coordinating with the Team Coordinator, in-office Clinical Leads, Triage and Clinical Managers for all specialty service line scheduling and active in–office patient care, pre and post op.
  • Coordinating patient educating with the Navigator prior to, day of, or post-surgery.
  • When needed, assisting the Navigator with Coordination and Development of outside referrals with other urology practices in referring patients in to have a specialty procedure performed by a UOI physician.
  • Responsible for ensuring safe and efficient transportation of all equipment, as needed, to and from participating surgery centers or in-office points of delivery via UOI owned certified lift gate van ensuring routine maintenance is performed and van is in working condition.
  • Coordination with the Navigator in support of quarterly case review dinners between UOI physicians, outside referring urologists, and radiologists.
  • Responsible for UOI physician education in regards to performing Artemis procedure and any software upgrades.
  • Maintaining necessary credentials for participating surgery centers.
