About The Position

Jordan’s Furniture is hiring a Furniture Repair Technician to repair furniture in customers’ homes and provide excellent customer service. Technicians are trained to repair upholstery, wood, leather, and motion-furniture mechanisms. The company provides vans for travel to customers’ homes. The position begins with a four-month apprenticeship. Successful completion of the training program leads to promotion. The role is based out of the Reading, Massachusetts store, with training locations identified in the posting as the Nashua, New Hampshire warehouse and the Taunton warehouse. During training, the schedule is Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, at the Taunton warehouse. The pay range is $22.00 to $24.00 per hour, based on experience and performance.

Requirements

Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively in difficult customer situations.
Positive and professional demeanor.
Maintain a professional appearance at all times.

Nice To Haves

Experience in furniture repair, or motivation to learn a new trade.
Understanding of the importance of customer service.

Responsibilities

Refinish and patch damaged furniture, including paint, stain, enamel, or lacquer, and mix paints and stains to match existing finishes.
Repair, replace, or rebuild damaged leather or upholstered furniture and mechanical parts.
Set up and operate power drills, sanders, saws, and other tools required for repairs.
Complete repair-related paperwork and other required documentation.
Safely drive a company van to customers’ homes to assess and repair damaged furniture.
Educate and inform customers about repair techniques and warranty programs.
