About The Position

The Aims Planning, Design, & Construction (PD&C) Department ensures that the college's buildings, facilities, and infrastructure meet the needs of students, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community. The Furniture Installer is responsible for performing work within the Space Support program, including physical relocation, installation, and repair of furniture and other equipment within College spaces. This technician will also be responsible for moving furniture, boxes, and equipment from one location (suite/building/campus) to another, ensuring the safety, functionality, and aesthetics of workspaces across the College. This role requires a blend of practical skills and design sensibility. We Make Great Spaces!

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED; plus one (1) year of experience in general labor or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
  • A pre-employment post-offer physical evaluation will be required of the selected candidate.
  • This position requires the use of a company vehicle for business travel. The selected candidate must successfully pass an MVR and be insurable under Aims insurance.
  • Safety Certifications for the following equipment (or ability to become certified within twelve (12) months of hire): Forklift.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
  • Work as a team member and foster a cooperative work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty experience in a related trade (systems furniture installation/reconfiguration, moves/relocations, carpentry, construction, etc.).
  • Knowledge of basic interior design and accessibility requirements.
  • OSHA 10 Safety certificate.
  • Work in a higher education environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, and repair furniture, including desks, chairs, tables, and shelving units, ensuring proper functionality and safety.
  • Physically move and rearrange furniture to optimize space utilization and support changing needs.
  • Work closely with other departments and personnel to understand space requirements and ensure projects are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Fill out work completion documentation appropriately.
  • Work with Manager, Coordinator, and/or others for project management, design, procurement, and other support on more complex projects.
  • Assist with developing and executing move plans in coordination with IT, taking into consideration customer needs and expectations, ADA requirements, and department policies to maintain safe working environments and consistent aesthetics within each facility.
  • Maintain accurate records of furniture inventory, including condition and location, and coordinate with procurement for replacements or additions.
