About The Position

Boyd Thermal by Eaton is seeking a Furnace Technician in our Niagara Falls, NY location. The Furnace Technician is responsible for operating a brazing furnace used to braze metal components used in the production of heat transfer units. Boyd Thermal by Eaton’s Niagara Falls, NY location specializes in handcrafting precise thermal solutions for aerospace and defense customers. This position is for 1st shift (7am-3pm).

Requirements

  • Ability to complete basic math calculations (add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, etc.)
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions and/or correspondence
  • Mechanically inclined and possess strong degree of attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills required
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw and apply valid conclusions
  • Ability to be cross-trained throughout manufacturing facility
  • Ability to work alone as well as in a team-fostered environment

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
  • Prior related work experience (1+ years)
  • Ability to use micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools
  • Ability to read and work to set tolerances and work from blueprints
  • Ability to set-up and operate braze furnaces

Responsibilities

  • Operate a brazing oven used to create strong, leak-proof joints in the production of heat transfer units.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and/or job orders to determine product specifications.
  • Prepare units by inspecting, measuring, and adjusting and secure components.
  • Accurately complete the necessary oven logs before placing units in braze oven.
  • Ensure proper oven program and thermocouples are used.
  • Square, flatten, and measure all units after brazing is completed.
  • Inspect and accurately record quality requirements of finished units.
  • Move finished units to proper location with appropriate identification paperwork.
  • Use all safety devices/tools to ensure safe operation.
  • Ensure work area is kept clean and always organized.
  • Support team development by sharing best practices and assisting in the training of coworkers as needed.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with Boyd policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned
