About The Position

The Foundry Furnace Tech must be able to perform all operations and operate equipment efficiently in performing duties. This role involves operating various types of furnaces, maintaining equipment, and ensuring quality production within specified parameters. The position requires adherence to safety protocols, documentation of work, and a positive attitude. There is extreme heat involved, and heavy lifting is required.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of OI a must.
  • Computer skills a plus.
  • Must be able to lift 16-30 pounds approximately 5 times per hour.
  • High school education.
  • One month Basic OJT.
  • Three months training technique.
  • Normal initiative and ingenuity.
  • Normal effort required.
  • Must be able to lift 16-30 pounds approximately 5 times per hour.
  • Must be willing to work daily overtime and weekend overtime as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Operate 3 Vacuum furnaces, equiax, D.S. and single crystal and accurately record all necessary information.
  • Operate furnace to produce quality products within specified parameters.
  • Ram crucibles on all furnaces.
  • Change over on D.S. susceptors/coils and melt coils.
  • Maintain furnaces by performing specified PM’s and cleaning furnace chambers for optimum performance.
  • Load and unload preheat furnaces.
  • Interpret and perform all duties according to PES’s and OI, and special lot instructions.
  • Record on a daily basis all work performed and the correct distribution of the work time identifying same by the operational codes.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Follow all safety rules.
  • Provide suggestions for improving foundry functions and procedures.
  • Operate a forklift.
  • Comply to 6S requirements.
  • Understand and comply to departmental safety requirements.
  • Train workers and encourage team skills.
  • Assist in decisions to operate furnace under questionable conditions.
  • Act as leader of preheat operator.
  • Exhibit initiative to meet plant and departmental goals for cost, safety, quality, and delivery.
  • Maintain work area to meet department standards.
  • Communicate inter-departmentally (maintenance, erg, etc.).
  • Follow verbal instructions and communicate across shifts.
  • Work daily overtime and weekend overtime as necessary.
