About The Position

Responsible for melting steel to a molten bath, must be familiar with the equipment used in maintaining or repairing the refractory lining of the furnace and with the furnace refractory requirements, and will use this equipment to maintain the refractory coating on the inside of the furnace at all times. Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Minimum 1 year of manufacturing or industrial production experience
  • Ability to work second shift and 10-hour shifts with overtime flexibility
  • Good attendance record
  • Ensure work area is clean and free of any hazards
  • Good work ethic
  • Maintain a positive attitude in the workplace at all times
  • Comfortable working in extreme heat conditions typical of furnace operations

Responsibilities

  • Melting steel to a molten bath
  • Maintaining or repairing the refractory lining of the furnace
  • Maintaining the refractory coating on the inside of the furnace at all times
  • Checking the condition of the furnace
  • Verifying the proper charge is placed in the furnace
  • Activating the electronic heat log steps in the melting subsystem on the computer
  • Following the sequence and requirements specified
  • Demonstrating 100% commitment to zero harm behaviors in support of developing a world class safety culture
  • Tapping on pitch and updating pitch boards
  • Data collection
  • Participating in lean initiatives (6S, Visual Management, Kaizen)
  • Performing other duties as directed by the company
